Public health officials may soon be able to flush out more accurate estimates on illegal drug use in communities across the country thanks to a new screening test. The test doesn't screen people directly, but instead seeks out evidence of illicit drug abuse in drug residues and metabolites excreted in urine and flushed toward municipal sewage treatment plants.

This would be an incredible testing method that could prove to be very useful to determine which communities are most heavily abusing drugs. Unfortunately it would be impossible to compare one area to the next because of different treatments, distances of piping, and a variety of other reasons. There are just too many issues that could create flaws in the test, such as a rainy season flooding the sewage treatment plant lowering the level of drugs in the sewage.
Wow. I wonder what made them think up such an idea!? They should take a look at the street corners instead of the sewage under them. Smile

The abuse of the drug is being spreaded the world all over. There are many miss use of the some of the drugs which is more complicated situation for the whole world. The effects like some kids are being misdiagnosed with Asthma. Under age drinking starts before adolescence and many more.
